The architectural soul of CLU stems from a philosophical dilemma observed by the Chilean biologist Humberto Maturana. While reflecting on Don Quijote, Maturana observed the knight’s internal tension between the “path of arms” — praxis, the act of doing — and the “path of letters” — poiesis, the act of creating. That duality deeply resonates with me. As someone who genuinely loves both art and science, I chose not to treat this tension as a contradiction — but as an architectural principle. CLU was designed at the intersection of praxis and poiesis.
